Ultimate Web 2.0 layout and web design tips

My second web 2.0 design tips are here. I give some recommendations on features that make a website appealing and easy to use.

If you are interested in web 2.0 design, I can help you get started.

Central positioning

Forget the left aligned layouts. Set your layout to the center.

Simple layout

Avoid the crowded layouts! If you have too many features, try cut them. Draw only the really important features on the layout.

Whites spaces and Grids

Try using grid design. Plan your layout with mathematical precision. Use 10 pixel or bigger numbers for your whitespaces.

Less columns

I am prefer 2 columns layout (sometimes I use 3 columns). If you have fewer columns you get better readability.

Good Typography

Always set your H1, H2, H3, H4, H5. Forget the 11px font size, use 12 px or higher. Try highlighting important elements with a larger font size. Always set line-height. Don't use too many font types.

Few colours

Avoid using too many colors. Set up 3-4 colors only and try using them. Forget the "over gradienting" use only a few smoth gradients.

Nice icons

Get some nice colorful icons and use them wisely only in high value areas of the layout.
